"Gems" was inspired by a real life incident where I was home during quarantine writing music. I hadn't had the inspiration to write in a long time so I was thrilled to have so many ideas flowing through me. I decided I should back up my lyrics to Dropbox because I had never done it before and I should change my habits. Needless to say, the note app I was using CRASHED during the backup and I legitimately lost all of the notes, lyrics, ideas, scripts, and brainstorms I had had for years, including what was to be my "new album" that was done but hadn't been finished recording. This was the instrumental I was writing to when the crash happened and so for days I was trying to recreate the idea I was working on before it finally came to me that this was the type of life lesson I should be documenting instead, a problem with lesser casualties but nevertheless a weighted one for myself, another obstacle presented and another challenge to overcome and persevere, tread on because if you had a diamond before, you may find you have more hidden away.
